Licensure Assistance Program

Brampton Chapter is pleased to announce that it is launching another round of PEO’s Licensure Assistance Program (LAP) in Summer 2018. This program is designed to link Professional Engineers licensed with PEO with Engineering Interns (EITs) to provide guidance and support to the interns as they progress towards professional licensure status. PEO believes that mentoring will help equip and prepare new engineers to have a greater understanding of their roles and responsibilities and for success in their profession.

The new session of the Licensure Assistance Program is expected to run from June 2018 to November 2018. Guides (formerly known as mentors) and Interns (formerly known as mentees) would be expected to dedicate at least two hours per month over the program time period to meet with their counterparts either in-person or on-line and provide periodic feedback to PEO.

You would qualify to be a Guide if you are registered as a P. Eng. with PEO. Participating in this program can be a very rewarding experience that provides on-going professional skills development.

You may qualify to be a mentee if you are registered as an EIT with PEO from the Brampton Chapter.

The primary objective of the PEO Licensure Assistance Program is to help guide EITs through the licensing process, develop as a professional and assimilate into the engineering community. This program also provides a great opportunity to learn and share your engineering and professional experiences with fellow members of the profession. There is no cost for participants. You must note that this Program is not a job finding program. Guides are also not expected to write reference letters for their Interns.

A training session will be scheduled in June 2018 for Guides and Interns accepted in the program. In this session we will provide you mentoring techniques and ideas to develop a successful relationship with your counterpart.

If you are interested, Brampton Chapter is currently inviting licensed Professional Engineers to act as Guides and EITs interested in registering to be Mentees. To find out more about the program or to apply to be a Guide or Intern, please visit (PEO Licensure Assistance Program) or contact our mentorship director Nilima Gandhi at mentorship@peobrampton.com. Please also note that in order to subscribe as a Guide you must also check off the privacy policy acceptance before registering.
